The Flying Ace Cycle Club of Berbice will run off the A. Ally and Sons General Store 12th annual cycle road race on Sunday.
The event, which is expected to attract the cream of the country’s cyclists, will be held as part of the store’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
The race will commence in front of the store’s Corriverton Branch and finish at Main and Cooper’s Lane New Amsterdam.
Among the top cyclists who are expected to participate in the event are Godfrey Pollydore, Warren Mc Kay, Junior Niles, Neil Reece, Jude Bentley, Alonzo Greaves and Raymond Newton. Prizes will be awarded to the first 10 finishers in the senior category along with the first four juniors; first four juveniles; first three females; first five BMX Open; first four Mountain Bike riders and first four cyclists from the Flying Ace Cycle Club.
Additionally there will be 10 sprint prizes of $2000 each at stake.
The juveniles will ride a distance of 20 miles from Adventure to New Amsterdam behind the first pack while the females will ride from Rose Hall, Corentyne while the BMX and Mountain Bike competitors will ride around the town on the completion of the main events.
There will be other novelty events such as a stickling competition.

All cyclists are requested to wear their club colours. A truck will be made available to take the cyclists to the starting point.
