The qualifying tournament for the National Senior Chess Championships is set to start tomorrow at the Keishar’s Sports Club on Hadfield Street. The nine-round Swiss System tournament is expected to attract the cream of the country’s senior players and a number of junior players as well. The tournament is expected to arrive at the top seven players will compete along with National Chess Champion Wendell Meusa in the Closed National Senior Open Chess tournament in November.
Registration will start at 09:00 hours with the first pawn being pushed at 10:00 hours. All interested players are asked to bring along their chess boards.
Registration fee for non-members will be $800.00, while members will pay $300.00.
