The Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) will host its fifth annual Federation International Nation Association (FINA)
officials clinic from October 21-25 at Olympic House, High Street.
A press release from the association said that the clinic is open to physical education teachers and all interested persons. Parents of swimmers in particular are encouraged to make a special effort to attend.
The clinic will be hosted by President of the Central America and the Caribbean Amateur Swimming Federation, Errol Clarke of Barbados.
The clinic is expected to keep the GASA aligned with its scheduled programme for the year.
According to the release, following the clinic, the GASA is expected to hold its Biennial General Meeting on October 30.
At that meeting, which will also be held at Olympic House, the association is expected to select the executive body for the 2011 – 2012 period.
The upcoming Guyana’s Teachers Union/National Swimming Championship to be held on November 9 will also be on the agenda.
The GASA is also expected to tackle the attendance of affiliated swimmers to the FINA Short Course (25m) World Championships which will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from December 15 – 19.
It was disclosed in the press release, that part funding has been provided, by FINA, for two swimmers and one official to attend the event.
