-makes donations to GTU, GTTA
Giftland OfficeMax is fast becoming a household name when it comes to supporting local sports.
The company has recently supported the Kashif and Shanghai inaugural President’s Cup football competition; the Beepat Scorpions Inter Organisation basketball tournament; Cool Crew’s second annual East Coast’s Reunion and the national netball team to name a few.
Last week the company gave sponsorship to the Guyana Teachers Union for the staging of the National Schools Track and Field Championships and the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) to assist their two-member Cadet Team participate at the Junior Pan Am Games in Santo Domingo.
The contribution to the GTTA was to assist Caribbean Under-13 champion Chelsea Edghill and Caribbean Under-13 silver medalist Jamaal Duff attend the high profile event which ran from October 4-11.
The company also contributed a quantity of stationeries towards the staging of the National Schools Swimming, Cycling and Track and Field Championships which is scheduled for next month at the Providence National Stadium, a donation for which Guyana Teachers Union president Colin Bynoe was especially pleased.
“The items from Giftland will help us do a lot of the administrative work for the championships. We know that we do not have enough, we need a lot more but we are yet grateful to Giftland for what they have done,” Bynoe said.
Giftland’s Marketing Manager, Compton Bobb, in response, said the company was always pleased to assist.
“First of all let me say congratulations to the GTU for celebrating their 50th year in organising these championships of which Giftland Office Max is pleased to be associated with which is also not the first time that we are a part of the championships,” he said.
