Discarded national wicketkeeper/batsman Derwin Christian was in fine form with bat and ball on the second day of the Georgetown Cricket Association’s (GCA) Heroes Cup first division competition at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground, Queenstown, yesterday.

to the Airtel Champions League tournament in South Africa but who lost his place for the current regional limited overs competition, slammed a swashbuckling century yesterday but failed to give his side first innings points against the Guyana Defence Force in their drawn encounter.
DCC resuming on 60-2 replying to the GDF’s 325-9 declared were all out for 245 with Christian slamming 107.
All told Christian hit nine fours and seven sixes receiving support from Leroy Primo, 27, Cohen Ishmond, 27, Utam Moore, 22 not out and Trevon Garraway 21.
Dennis Legay captured five wickets for GDF while fast bowler Jeremiah Harris who top scored with 77 in the GDF team’s first innings picked up two wickets from nine overs.
Batting a second time GDF were dismissed for a paltry 135 with Christian the chief wrecker with five wickets from a mere 5.4 overs while Garraway chipped in with two wickets from his 10 overs.
Delon Heyliger top scored with 30 while other useful contributions came from Shemroy Barrington and Marcus Watkins with 22 runs each and Travis Blyden who made 16.
At the close DCC in their second innings were 34-4 with Christian making 15.
