KOCHI, India, (Reuters) – Steady overnight rain and an early morning shower washed out the first one-day international between India and Australia yesterday.
The rain had left puddles all over the outfield before the morning downpour ended any hopes of the match taking place, much to the disappointment of the 30,000 spectators that braved the weather to fill the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Visakhapatnam is scheduled to host the second of the three-match series on Wednesday, while Margao is the venue of the final contest on Oct. 24.
India have already completed a 2-0 sweep in the test series between the sides.
