About 600 more house lots were distributed on Saturday when the Ministry of Housing held its third ‘One Stop Shop’ exercise in Region Three, where it issued lots for the Schoonord housing establishment.
Minister of Housing and Water, Irfaan Ali told allottees that government is committed to building family life. He said homeownership provides security and asset value to future generations and urged residents to capitalize on the opportunity to own their own homes and transform their lives, a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release said. The minister also noted that the new scheme may comprise persons from diverse areas and as such they needed to cooperate even as government initiates new ideas and programmes to boost lifestyles.
Region Three Chairman Julius Faerber noted that Parfait Harmonie is one of the largest housing schemes in the region and that most of the social and economic developments that are ongoing in the region are directly related to the increase in housing. He also said schools and health post have been opened in the region to meet the new demands of the area.
According to GINA Permanent Secretary Emile Mc Garrell, CEO at the Central Housing and Planning Authority Myrna Pitt, a team from the ministry; and representatives from the financial sector, private home developers, and hardware and furniture sectors also attended the exercise. The meeting was held at the Parfait Harmonie Primary School.
