First Division Heroes Cup match between GNIC and Police ends in draw

The two-day Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) First Division Heroes Cup match between Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) and Police ended in a draw at the Eve Leary ground on Sunday.

GNIC after posting 319-6 in their first innings, fired 154-4 in 33 overs in the second innings. Quincy Ovid-Richardson led the scoring with 72.  GNIC ended the match with a lead of 283 runs. Police left arm pacer Andre Stoll took 1-13 and Jason Heyliger picked up 1-67.

Police resumed the final day of the match on 47-2 but eventually settled at 190 all out and 129 runs behind from 84 overs. Heyliger top scored for Police with 59 and was ably supported by national medium pacer Trevor Benn, who hit 35.

Spinner Ranole Bourne was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-84 and his spin twin and Captain Collis Butts returned with 3-38.

Meanwhile, on the first day former national opening batsman Krishna Arjune fashioned an authoritative innings of 156 before he was adjudged leg before wicket to Heyliger. He got support from Shaun De Souza, who scored 89 before he too fell leg before wicket to Benn.

Heyliger had ended with 3-62 from 19.5 overs while there was a wicket each for Benn and Stoll.
