The Ministry of Public Works recently awarded three contracts for the installation of street lights along the Corentyne Highway, Region Six and the contractor is mobilizing for the work.
The Government Information Agency said the areas are: Stockholm to Crabwood Creek, Fyrish to Tain and New Amsterdam to Palmyra.
Traffic/Safety Engineer, Nigel Erskine stated that 190 photocell street lights will be installed along the 9.5 kilometres Stockholm to Crabwood Creek stretch at a cost of approximately $28M, according to GINA.
One hundred and seventy-six lights will be installed along the 8.8 kilometres Fyrish to Tain stretch at a cost of approximately $26M and 114 street lights will be installed along the 5.7 roadway from New Amsterdam to Palmyra at a cost of approximately $17M.
He said that the duration of the projects is four months.
