-urges customers with arrears to clear their debts
The Guyana Water Incor-porated (GWI) says only customers who have cleared outstanding arrears will be able to benefit from service from its new distribution main at Melanie Damishana.
In a press release GWI Divisional Manager (East Coast) Marlon Daniels said with the installation of the new main the old one will be decommissioned as the existing pipeline is “very old and porous.” He also said the new water main will significantly reduce non-revenue water and improve the service level for residents. Customers who were served by the previous system will be transferred to the new main.
Customers with outstanding balances on their accounts will not be transferred to the new main until all arrears are paid. “It is important that customers recognise that without their consistent payment, improvements such as this are not possible,” Daniels said. He noted that there is a significant number of customers in this community with large arrears. The old distribution main will cease to supply customers who have failed to pay outstanding balances on November 6 as such GWI urges them to clear these debts to prevent any inconvenience.
The release said customers can make payments at GWI’s Bachelor’s Adventure Office, at any Bill Direct location, the Guyana Post Office, or at the banks. GWI also advises customers who are unable to pay their entire outstanding balances that they can enter into a payment plan at the Bachelor’s Adventure office of at the Corporate Complex at the Shelter Belt.
