The Guyana Defence Force this afternoon said it has recovered a weapon which was reported missing during training involving its troops.
It did not name the type of weapon.
The army said that search parties were dispatched and conducted several “diligent searches using metal detectors and similar devices”.
It said that the missing weapon was found today in a part of the training area that had not been previously searched. The army has come under consistent scrutiny over weapons since the disappearance of 30 AK 47s several years ago from its headquarters at Camp Ayanganna.
