Two teens were caught by police shortly after they robbed a businesswoman with a toy gun yesterday.
In a statement, police said that Kickadai Sukhai, 40, a businesswoman of Block ‘G’ Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara, was robbed at about 10:45am yesterday. The woman was tending her shop when the suspects entered and requested two soft drinks. When being served, one of them pointed the gun at the woman and climbed through a small opening on the counter and opened a door for the other to enter the shop. They stole cash totalling $34 200, some documents and escaped, the police said.
A report was made and ranks from the Grove/Diamond police station responded and chased after the suspects. During the chase, the teens dropped a bag containing what turned out to be a toy gun. The booty was recovered on the suspects, the statement said. They remain in custody as investigations continue.
