This evening models will strut their stuff in a ‘glamorous’ setting when Guyana Fashion Weekend (GFW) and the Glamour Designer Brands presents ‘Glamour on Wellington’ which will showcase designs from local and overseas designers.
The event, which is slated for the Glamour building at the corner of Wellington Street and North Road, is described by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GFW Sonia Noel is one of the “new exciting events” added on every year to the GFW calendar of events. Today’s event acts as a curtain raiser for the GFW’s main event that will held on the evenings of October 30 and 31.
A release from Glamour touted the evening as the first of its kind adding that it is anticipated “to be a glamorous event featuring a 100 ft runway; and will closely resemble the similar activities held during New York’s glitzy and glamourous fashion week.”
The fashion show will feature designs of international designers, Jessica McClintock, Guess, Ed Hardy, Jessica Simpson and others and will be filled with “colour, style, ingenuity, passion and fine Guyanese craftsmanship” as local, young and emerging talent will be added to this equation.
“We’re happy to be a part of this event, since we’re always in support of things local and the expansion of the Guyanese fashion industry,” said Varsha Sharma, Executive Manager, Glamour. She noted that the talents of some of Guyana’s young and upcoming designers will be showcased before the store’s exclusive clientele.
Glamour opened its doors in 2009 and since then it has “been outfitting Guyanese as the authorized reseller of some of the world’s largest brands including Guess, Jessica McClintock, Fossil, Serengeti, Maui Jim, Kenneth Cole, Jessica Simpson and Ed Hardy.”
