Two brothers, one celebrating his birthday, died on Friday after the vehicle in which they were travelling crashed into a lamp pole on the Leguan Public Road. A third person was injured in the accident.
Ronald Singh, 23, and his brother Davindra Singh, 18, died before receiving medical attention at the Wakenaam hospital.
Their friend Deopaul Nandlall, 19, is a patient at the hospital in a stable condition.
Police reported that they were celebrating Ronald’s birthday and drinking alcohol prior to the crash around 9.30 pm at Kingston, Leguan Public Road. Ronald Singh was driving the motorcar PEE 6358 and was speeding north along the western side of the road when it slammed into the lamp pole, according to police.
The car ended up in a trench and the three were later transported to the hospital.
