Seawall United scored an upset victory over Victoria Kings while Alpha continued down victory lane when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Super League continued on Friday at the Georgetown Football Club Ground.
Seawall needled Victoria Kings to move within one point of the Kings on the leader board while Alpha United’s 3 – 0 victory over Buxton United moved them up to 33 points as they maintain and eight point lead on second place.
In the feature match, both Victoria Kings and Seawall played entertaining football. Neither team was able to score in the first half despite having good opportunities near goal.
Adami Hoyte scored the lone goal in the 67th minute which was enough to get Seawall past Kings and giving them their fourth consecutive win in the second round.
The curtain raiser saw Alpha United pulling off a convincing victory over Buxton.
Alpha United scored as early as the sixth minute through Dwight Peters while Anthony Abrams scored Alpha’s second goal in the 33rd minute before Philbert Moffat put the issue beyond doubt with a goal in the 80th minute.
Seawall moved into seventh position with 17 points behind Victoria Kings who have 18 points.
The competition continues today at the GFC Ground where Camptown meets Milerock at 5pm while the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will tackle Alpha United.
At Blairmont, Bakewell Top XX and Rosignol United will collide at 4 pm in a game which both teams need to win to solidify their position in the points standing.
Rosignol occupies the fifth position with 20 points and five games remaining while Top XX are in ninth position with 12 points and have four games remaining.
