Open air dances are a noise nuisance plague on Stanleytown

Dear Editor,
I am writing this letter in frustration at the noise nuisance that is plaguing my village, Stanleytown, located on the West Bank of Demerara.

Of late there has been the regular hosting of open air dances on the local playground with the playing of very loud music.

I have had to disarm my vehicle alarm on these occasions since the vibration from the base would set off the alarm.    These dances would start about 5 pm in the afternoon during the weekends and go to about 3 to 4 am into the next day.   I have sought help from the following police enforcement arms:
*   D Division (under whose jurisdiction Stanleytown falls),
* Wales Police Station (whose area of policing covers Stanleytown),
*  La Grange Police Station (the other police station close to Stanleytown and where a police patrol is normally based).

None of these entities has been able to provide any assistance so far. They would tell you that they have sent officers to stop the music but nothing happens and you just have to endure the bombardment until the youngsters would have had enough and bring closure to their party.

As a hard working taxpayer don’t I have the right to a quiet weekend’s rest?  Is this too much to ask of our law enforcement officers?  Dear editor, I would appreciate some advice as to what next I can do. I would hope by writing this letter someone in authority in the Police Force or elsewhere would hear my plea for help and put a stop to this emerging madness.

It is now 2 am Sunday, 24-Oct-10 and I would now close my letter.  I would try to surf the web to take my mind off the noise or probably focus on the TV. Did I hear rain on the roof? It sounds as though the Father above has heard my plea.  Yes the rain has put a stop to the music this time and I can now try to get some sleep.
Yours faithfully,
Ian Manifold
