Dominic Fraser registered another unblemished day Saturday as the Guyana Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) Nigel’s Supermarket Junior Classic Tennis Tournament continued at the tennis courts of the Pegasus Hotel.
Participating in the boys’ 14 and 18 years and under categories, Fraser won against Rajan McKay and Mindat Lallbeharry, respectively.
Against McKay, Fraser eased to a 4 – 1, 4 – 1 victory. However, things were not as easy against Lallbeharry with Fraser securing a well-earned 5 -3, 4 – 4 (7 – 2) triumph after a hard-fought battle.
And, in the boys’ 18 years and under category, Fraser will next oppose number one seed Gavin Lewis.
Lewis also had an easy day, producing his expected flawless play as he delivered a second defeat for McKay a 4 – 0, 4 – 0 whipping. However, the day was not a total loss for McKay who managed a 4 – 1, 5 – 3 win against Gerad Budram in his second boys’ 14 years and under match.
Budram also lost 2 – 4, 0 – 4 to Nomechandra Persaud, in boys’ 14 years and under match.
In other matches, Daniel Lopes overcame Benedict Sukra 4 – 1, 4 – 1, in boys’ 18 years and under match.
Sukra had earlier secured a 5 – 3, 4 – 2 win against Craig Campbell in the boys’ 14 years and under category.
Campbell ended the day on an even note with a 5 – 3, 4 – 1 win against Persaud in the boys’ 18 years and under category.
Judah Stephney defeated Davendra Singh 4 – 0, 4 – 0, in a boys’ 14 years and under match but lost 3 – 5, 2 – 4 to Seanden David-Longe.
Longe’s brother, Saevion, also recorded his second win, a 4 – 1, 4 – 2 victory against Khalif Gobin while David Rose won 4 – 1, 4 – 2 against Neon Barry.
In the girls’ 14 years and under category, Aretta Dey received a walkover from Rachel Bacchus in the only remaining preliminary match. And in the girls’ 18 years and under category, Dey was on the losing end of a 1-4, 3-5 defeat to Nicola Ramdyhan while Krystal Sukra defeated Aruna Ramrattan 4 – 1, 4 – 0, and number one seed Shawna Gentle soared to a 4 – 2, 4 – 1 over Ramdyhan.
