An unidentified man succumbed on Sunday to injuries he sustained when the driver of minibus he was travelling in ended up in the trench at New Hope Public Road, East Bank Demerara after colliding with a car.
The dead man was said to be of mixed ethnicity, about 35 to 40 years of age, fair complexion, about 5’ 5” in height, thin built and with a dreadlocked hairstyle.
The body is at the Lyken’s Funeral Home.
The man was clad in a green t-shirt and blue jeans at the time of his death.
Police said in a press release yesterday that 13 other passengers who were in the minibus, BLL 2836, were also injured during the 5:30 pm accident but were treated at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre and sent away.
Investigations, the release said, revealed that the minibus driver “overtook a line of vehicles travelling north along the roadway and in doing so was confronted by vehicles proceeding in the opposite direction”.
The driver then attempted to go back into the lane of traffic, collided with a car and lost control of the vehicle which ended up in a trench.
