(Barbados Nation) – St John, the parish which the late Prime Minister David Thompson represented in Parliament for the past 23 years, will be home for his final resting place.
Government officials confirmed yesterday that Thompson will be buried at the St John Parish Church next Wednesday after a state funeral service at Kensington Oval which starts at 10 am.
There are reports that already representatives from all Caribbean countries have confirmed their attendance. A number of high-level diplomats are also expected from the United States, Britain, China and Canada.
Prime Minister Freundel Stuart announced in a televised address to the nation on Sunday night that Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean will be responsible for the funeral arrangements, in collaboration with the Cabinet Office and in consultation with the family of the late prime minister.
