An employee of the National Communications Network (NCN) won $100,000 and became the first winner in the Courts Vault promotion when it was launched amidst much hype at its Main Street Branch yesterday.
A sizeable crowd cheered as Trevor Persaud, Technical Operator, NCN selected the vault which contained the highest amount available in the media giveaway segment. This segment was geared at demonstrating to customers how the show would work. After winning, Persaud said that he felt good and that the money would come in handy for his pregnant wife.
Media operatives and special invitees were each given a number to stand a chance at winning any of five cash amounts contained in the vaults. Persaud, whose number was three, selected vault three as well.
He then had to wait while the remaining vaults were opened. When it came down to the final two, he was given an option of staying or switching.
Some persons in the crowd shouted “Switch, switch” but despite their persistence, he said that he would remain with his choice since he was confident that it held the top amount.
The upper flat of the Main Street store was abuzz with anticipation as spectators awaited the start of the programme.
Light and smoke effects transformed the atmosphere as five vaults awaited the arrival of the ‘vault ladies.’ The aim was to transform the area into one resembling a ‘Las Vegas Show’.
Clyde de Haas, new Managing Director of Courts (Guyana) said that the new and exciting promotion will allow nine customers to win up to $22M.
He said that this was the store’s way of giving back to its valued customers at Christmas time. “It is not only to have a life-changing experience when you shop at Courts, but to shop at Courts and get rich,” he said.
The promotion which is themed “many will try but only one holds the key” will run until December 30 and customers can gain entry by shopping $5,000 and over at the store.
