Police Commander Terrence Brown was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex yesterday nursing head injuries after the police car he was driving went into a creek along Sir David Rose Avenue at Linden.
Stabroek News was reliably informed that the senior officer of the Police E&F Division, Linden, was heading back to work after lunch when the police car he was driving developed mechanical problems causing him to lose control before crashing in to a ‘tenessy’ (open air staircase seating) and then landing in the nearby Cockatara Creek along Sir David Rose Avenue.
He was driving along the Washer Pond road at the time.
Business proprietors in the area said that it could have been worse had Brown been driving at a faster rate. According to them it seemed that the car had a brakes or steering failure.
“He wasn’t driving fast at all, is either he black out or deh car had a problem,” said one businessman.
Another said that he was happy that no one was on the ‘tenessy’ at the time. “We does always got people hanging out there but God was a guide today.”
Persons who were in the vicinity at the time quickly rushed to the aid of the officer and whisked him off to the Linden Hospital Complex where he remained in a stable condition up to press time.
