President Bharrat Jagdeo has extended congratulations to Brazilian president-elect Dilma Rousseff.
According to a press release, Jagdeo said he was pleased to extend greetings on behalf of the government and people of Guyana. He conveyed best wishes to Rousseff as she prepares to take up the mantle of leadership of a country that “has become one of the most influential and progressive in our atmosphere.
“I am confident that the policies which you have envisioned for Brazil would allow for the continuity of political stability and even greater economic and social progress,” he said. Jagdeo noted that Guyana and Brazil enjoy excellent relations and said he is looking forward to working with the president-elect to find innovative ways that would contribute to the further strengthening of ties between the two peoples.
