(BBC) The main banana exporting company in the Windward Islands says initial assessments show the banana industry has taken a severe blow from Hurricane Tomas.
Winfresh says there’ll be no shipments of bananas out of St Lucia or St Vincent for a few months at least.
As a result the company says it might be forced to source bananas from other areas, including Latin America, in order to meet its international export targets.
