Haiti and Guyana played to a 0-0 stalemate in their Digicel Caribbean Cup Group F match, the first of a double header at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, yesterday.
The clash between the 2007 champions, Haiti and number two ranked team in the region, Guyana, failed to live up to expectations, which resulted in both teams walking away with a point from the match.
The Guyana team battled manfully but could not find the final touches that could have given them the win.
On many occasions the Guyanese players found themselves on the edge of the Haitian penalty box but could not string together the final decisive touch.
At the other end of the field, the Guyanese defence stood firm with Howard Lowe marshalling the troops.
They were able to break down the Haitian attackers time and time again.
The Guyanese players shot to life after an ordinary start nearly led to an opening goal by Haiti.
Jerome Mechack found himself unmarked on the right but headed over bar.
Guyana will take on hosts T&T tomorrow while Haiti will tackle St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in the other encounter at the same venue.
Meanwhile T&T began their Digicel Cup campaign in the second match of the double header against the SVG team.
