A policeman who pleaded guilty to the charge of driving under the influence of alcohol was fined $7,500 or in default three weeks imprisonment when he appeared this week before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court.
The breathalyzer had shown that Police Constable Dwayne Mingo’s alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.
Constable Mingo, 33, of First Alley, Wismar, was also charged with driving motorcar PFF 3554 dangerously on Sunday, October 31, along the Rockstone Public Road.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge of dangerous driving and was placed on $50,000 bail after Police Prosecutor Naught offered no objection.
Mingo, however, was ordered to surrender his driver’s licence to the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court for endorsement. This matter will come up again in court on February 11 next year.
