The Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) said a gunman accosted and robbed one of its mail contractors of a quantity of mail in front of the Grove Post Office on Monday.
In a press release the GPOC said at about 7.25 am, the armed man confronted the contractor as he was making his way to the Post Office from his vehicle. “After a brief scuffle the gunman and an accomplice escaped with mail bags containing mail intended for delivery in the Grove, Soesdyke and Kuru Kururu areas,” the release said.
Police are investigating the matter. Meanwhile, operations at the Grove Post Office continue as usual.
