HAMILTON, New Zealand, CMC – A New Zealand provincial side has turned down the chance to sign West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard.
The Northern Knights were chasing Pollard, but the club had to admit that he was too expensive.
Knights coach Grant Bradburn said he was hoping to sign Pollard to bolster the club’s hitting at the top of the innings.
He was hoping to make Pollard one of three international batsmen that he would bring to the club.
But he had to settle for South African import Herschelle Gibbs, as well as Australians Brad Hodge and David Warner to boost their Twenty20 line–up for the domestic competition, which begins next month.
Northern Districts finished fourth in the T20 competition last year.
