Cuba’s Antonio Quintero continues to lead the five stage ‘Ride For Life’ cycle road race following yesterday’s third stage at Parika.
The third stage of the race began at Wales and ended at Parika yesterday morning with local cyclist Alonzo Greaves winning that stage in
58 minutes and 48 seconds (58:48).
Warren McKay was second, Geron Williams third.
Godfrey Pollydore, Marlon `Fishy’ Williams and Raymond Newton rounded off the top six finishers placing fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
All the cyclists in the massive leading bunch were awarded a bunch time of 58:48s as happened in the second stage where no cyclist was able to break away and the riders finished in a large pack. Overall placing remains the same since the conclusion of the first stage with Quintero out front, followed by Eric Sankar, Marlon Williams, Neil Reece, Tony Simon and Walter Grant-Stewart in that order.
The cyclists will continue the road race with the fourth stage today from Supenaam to Suddie, while the fifth and final stage will be from Linden to Georgetown on Sunday.
