The Guyana Red Cross Society (GRCS) hosts a blood drive today in collaboration with the National Road Safety Council (NRSC), currently observing Road Safety Month.
According to a release from the GRCS, it has already embarked on a journey to recruit and retain young donors through blood drives held every second Tuesday each month.
To this end the society has launched its Club 25 youth group which is dedicated to young voluntary blood donors who will aim to give 20 units of blood by their 26th birthday.
According to the release, Ramona Doorgen of the NRSC, “the Council sees the importance for voluntary blood donations since blood cannot be manufactured and is needed to save lives but it can only come from generous donors.”
This blood drive takes place at the GRCS headquarters in Kingston.
