Krystal Sukra won the girls 18-years-and-under title after she defeated Nicola Ramdyhan 6 – 2, 6 – 3 on Sunday in the final of the Pegasus Open lawn tennis tournament at the Hotel courts.
With the junior title behind her Sukra will now turn her attention to the senior title where she is expected to come up against Carol Humphrey in the final.
“I had expected to do good against Nikki [Ramdyhan], and she played really good, and now I expect to do good in the women’s finals. I think that my game is as good as Carol’s and I’m looking forward to the match,” Sukra said.
Aretta Dey ruled the girls’ 14-years-and-under category after she defeated Afruica Gentle 6 – 2, 6 – 0 in the final.
Gentle had defeated Kristie Lopes 6 – 4, 6 – 1 in the semi-final.
In the boys’ 14 years and under category, Gavin Lewis defeated Seanden David-Longe 6 – 1, 6 – 3 while Saevion David Longe defeated Judah Stephney 6 – 1, 6 – 1.
In another Under-14 encounter Daniel Lopes defeated Benedict Sukra 6 – 1, 6 – 0.
