Carolan Lynch’s court case in which she is accused of murdering her Swiss House Cambio dealer husband was for the third time called yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court but once more she was absent and therefore the charge could not be read.
When the matter was called in the afternoon, Lynch did not show up.
Prosecutor Lionel Harvey then made an application that the matter be adjourned until today. His request was granted by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry before whom the matter was called.
No details were given yesterday by the prosecution explaining the reason for the defendant’s non-appearance.
When Lynch’s matter was called on October 27 last, the prosecution told the court that Lynch had not been formally notified that she was needed at court. In a sworn statement, the investigating officer close to the case told the court that she visited Lynch’s residence but that she appeared not to have been there as repeated calls went unanswered.
On the last occasion, Harvey in his address to the court made a request that an arrest warrant not be issued for the defendant since she was not notified that she needed to attend court.
The woman was previously charged with Farouk Razac’s murder in 2008, Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys had however ruled that no prima facie case was made against her and the matter was subsequently discharged.
She had been charged in May 2007 after Razac was found dead on the floor of their Eping Avenue, Bel Air home.
There was evidence he had bled through his nose and mouth and his hands were at his neck. An autopsy later confirmed that he had been strangled.
