Quinn George of District No.5 and Doretta Wilson of District No.9 yesterday became the 10km road race champions of the National Schools Cycling, Swimming and Track and Field Championships.
The two athletes won the respective male and female categories of the race which was staged along the East Coast Highway.
George clocked 34 minutes and 25 seconds to take the boys title while Wilson topped the girls’ category with a 41 minutes and 24 seconds finish. Second place among the boys was District 4’s Chavez Sital who clocked 34 minutes and 36 seconds while defending champion, Nathaniel Giddings of Linden, placed third after clocking 36 minutes and 56 seconds.
District 11’s Devon Barrington was fourth in a time of 38 minutes and 23 seconds.
In the female category, District 12’s Jevina Straker maintained her last year second place position with a time of 44 minutes and 16 seconds.
Third place went to District 5’s Onicia Bacchus who finished in 44 miutes and 35 seconds while Shenika Chapman of District 10 was fourth in 50 minutes and 58 seconds.
