-as GABA Division Three and Two tournaments jump off
The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Division Two and Three Knockout Tournaments finally got going last weekend at the Burnham Basketball Court.
Beepat Scorpions were a dominant force Monday night crushing newly formed West Side basketball team 89-71 in the opening game.
Scorpions’ Shelroy Thomas piloted his team to victory by drilling West Side with a game-high 41 points aided by Drexel Aaron’s 16 points.
The Scorpions established a 17-11 lead in the first quarter and led 34-29 at half time.
The lead was extended to 18(61-43) at the end of the third quarter and stayed that way until the game ended.
Colin Griffith and Deven Murray contributed 13 and 12 points respectively for West Side.
In what was supposed to be the feature showdown on Monday night, the Nirva Knights gained and walk-over from the Ravens and easily advanced in the Division Three knockout tournament.
Meanwhile, on Saturday in the Division Three competition, Plaisance Guardians defeated Melanie Patriots 64-61 for their first win in their debut tournament.
In another Division Three encounter, Courts Pacesetters trounced Pepsi Sonics 94-60.
Sunday night saw the commencement of the Division Two tournament with Pacesetters’ scoring a 65-54 points win over the Eagles.
Quacy Roberts scored 13 for the Pacesetters and Travis Burnett added 11.
Louis James led Eagles with a game-high 15 points. James’ teammate Linden Smith contributed 10.
