A man who was on Thursday arrested for behaving disorderly in the Port Kaituma Hospital compound was subsequently found with an illegal firearm and matching rounds.
Divisional Commander David Ramnarine, in confirming the incident, yesterday said that diligent police work led to the arrest of three other men, including an ex-policeman. He said that the four men will make a court appearance on Monday.
Ramnarine explained that police received a report that a man was behaving disorderly and ranks subsequently made an arrest.
The man, who, according to Ramnarine, is employed by a private security service, was found to be in possession of a 9mm pistol and matching round.
He said that investigations led to two other persons in the Port Kaituma area and another in the city. He did not disclose where the ex policeman was held.
Ramnarine noted that all four men were in the possession of the weapon at some point.
