– AND 1 players amaze in warm-up game
Promoters of the current All-Star Basketball Weekend, which began yesterday unveiled the uniforms that will be worn by Guyana’s All-Star players and disclosed the members of Wildfire’s Guyana “All-Star team who will clash with the AND 1 Streetball team tomorrow night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The announcement was made at the office of the event’s organizers and promoters, Wildfire Entertainment (WE), at Bel Air Gardens yesterday.
Central Executive Officer (CEO) of WE, Jonathan Beepat, event coordinator Warren Williams and defending All-Star dunk-out champion, Tyrone Hamid assisted in displaying the uniforms along with the trophies that will be presented at the conclusion of the event.
“All the stuff that we have organized for the event are already set in place, the Federation [Guyana Basketball Federation] and the Linden and Georgetown sub-associations have sanctioned it and the teams have been selected,” said Beepat.
Wildfire’s Guyana All-Star team reads: Steve Neils, Tyrone Hamid, Nkossi Gorrick, Ryan Gullen, Vivian Alder, Travis Foster, Stephon Henry, Ryan Stephney, Royston Siland and Kerwin Blade.
Meanwhile, the AND 1 Streetball team is all set for the match-up against Wildfire’s Guyana All-Stars.
During a three-on-three practice run against local players at the Basketball Court Thursday night, fans were left amazed after they were briefly entertained by the Streetball Stars.
The AND 1 team brought their flashy style of play to the popular outdoor basketball facility and gave fans a free sample of what they can expect tomorrow night when they meet Wildfire’s Guyana All-Star team.
A number of players and supporters were present to witness the stars display their Streetball theatrics and were thoroughly entertained by spellbinding dunks and crossovers.
The unprecedented arrival of the AND 1 Street Ball team in Guyana on Tuesday will be headlining the event and supporters will also be entertained throughout the course of the weekend by Dunk Contests, 3-point Shootout Contests, Junior and Senior All-Star Games, along with the feature game tomorrow.
Basketball fans in attendance will also get a chance to be a part of the action with crowd events such as the ‘Quick bucks’ shooting challenge and halftime half court shots for an opportunity to win big prizes.
The event continues tonight with the Junior Slam Dunk Contest, Junior Three-point Shootout and Georgetown versus Linden Senior All Star Game.
Wrapping up the All-Star Weekend will be the feature events on the programme tomorrow night. These include an AND 1 Slam Dunk Exhibition followed by a shootout contest between the champions of the senior and junior shootout contests and shooters from the AND 1 team.
To conclude tomorrow night’s events will be an exhibition game between the Junior National team and the National Under-21 team followed by the weekend’s main event between Guyana’s All-Star team and the AND 1 team.
Patrons will also be able to have items autographed at the end of the night as the AND 1 players will be signing autographs for an hour after the game.
