The National Sports Commission and the Guyana Relief Council are among 11 statutory bodies that have not had their financial statements audited for more than five years, the most recent Auditor General’s report states.
According to the 2009 report, the National Sports Commission last had its financial statements audited in 2004, while the Relief Council was last audited in 1994. Other entities listed were the Transport & Harbours Department, which was last audited in 2002 and the Guyana National Bureau of Standards in 2002. The University of Guyana Pension Scheme, the Guyana Museum and the Guyana Export Promotion Council were also listed and these entities were last audited in 1994, 1996 and 1997 respectively, the report said.
President’s College, the National Library, the National Science Research Council and the Sugar Industry and Labour Welfare Fund have also defaulted with their financial statements last being audited in 2001, 2000,1982 and 1999 respectively, the report said.
