Dear Editor,
On pre-Diwali night and the following day, the night sky was lit up with an array of squibs followed by a variety of violent sounds, which caused anxiety to our dumb four-legged animals, residents, not forgetting the elderly.
This onslaught, which I labelled Armageddon, was launched on the East Bank between Peters Hall down to Agricola and within the precincts of police stations.
These WMD (weapons of mass destruction) have been used on specific religious holidays with impunity. And even though they are illegal, one questions the disrespect for the law, which is perceived to be nothing more than a toothless tiger.
With Xmas approaching I beg, implore and plead with the authorities to do something positive in prosecuting these persons who have no regard for the privacy of their neighbours. Are they the ‘Untouchables’?
Yours faithfully,
