Roy Cummings might not be as well known a golfer as his father Syd and brothers Bruce and Andre.
But all that will change following Roy’s win in the prestigious two-day Digicel Golf Classic over the week-end at the Lusignan Golf Course.
It was first time the Red Jacket was on offer and Roy Cummings wore it with pride.
The experienced golfer, playing off a 16 handicap, held his nerve to capture the title.
Cummings had shot a perfect 66 on the opening day Saturday. On Sunday he staved off a strong challenge from the field with a net 72 to finish with a net aggregate of 139.
Cummings who came off a lean spell, won from Bolowran Deo, brother of last year’s winner Vijay Deo. Sookram Deosarran was third.
Deo ended with a score of 139 from a 15 handicap while Deo had a score of 140 off a handicap of eight.
Rita heikens was fourth overall and first among the females.
Salim Rasheed was the winner of the nearest to the pin, lowest gross and longest drive prizes while Kishan Bacchus won a prize for the lowest net.
Digicel’s CEO Gregory Dean was on hand to make the presentation of the red jacket to Cummings.
