Antonio Giddings, alias ‘Big Head’, of Pitt Street, New Amsterdam, was sentenced to twelve months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to a charge of simple larceny, an incident which was caught on a security camera.
The repeat offender urged the magistrate to be lenient with him as he had recently been released from jail.
However, the magistrate in response to the request said, “You don’t seem to want to reform yourself, as soon as you are out, you are in.”
Police Corporal Roberto Figueira, prosecuting, said that on September 28, Giddings stole from A. Ally and Sons Hardware store three boxes of tiles valued at $15,368, property of Ahmad Ally.
The incident, he said, was recorded on a security camera and was subsequently replayed to the court showing several pictures of the thief while he was committing the offence when the business place was closed.
