A tractor operator/labourer of Mibicuri South, Black Bush Polder died after the tractor he was driving toppled and pinned him in the “branch canal” around 1 pm yesterday.
Reports are that the man, Persaud called ‘Fat Boy,’ 35, was driving along the dam when the tractor slipped down the edge of the canal that leads to the irrigation pump.
Persaud, who was employed with O. Ramprashad & Sons Rice Mill decided to jump off the tractor into the canal to escape being hurt. But it happened that the tractor toppled and fell on the same spot and pinned him.
Persons hurried to the scene and pulled out the tractor. They tried for over one hour before they were finally able to locate the body which was buried in the mud.
He leaves to mourn his wife and three children, including a 12-year-old son who witnessed the incident.
