No decision yet on Murray

No decision has yet been made on the fate of PNCR executive member Winston Murray who remains on a respirator in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), his wife Marva said yesterday.

Marva speaking via telephone from her Prashad Nagar home told Stabroek News that “everything remains the same” and relatives are still coming in from abroad. The wife said that contrary to earlier reports his son who resides in the UK will not be coming.

At press time last night, Murray remained hooked up to a life support machine.
Murray, 69, collapsed while standing in a line at McDoom, East Bank Demerara, last Thursday evening and gave his car key to a public-spirited citizen whom he told to take him to the Balwant Singh Hospital. He was later transferred to the GPH.
He had suffered cerebral haemorrhaging and lapsed into an unconscious state. On Sunday neurosurgeon Dr Ivor Crandon, who arrived in the country from Jamaica on a chartered flight, examined Murray and found that there was no sign of brain activity. He said that no surgical intervention could be made.

The government flew in Dr Crandon after relatives and colleagues requested his expertise.
