A multinational operation involving maritime assets from several countries, including the US, aimed at preserving the “legitimate activities of South American countries bordering the Atlantic Ocean” has seen increased security presence on the coasts of Guyana and Suriname, the US Embassy in Georgetown has announced.
According to the release there is currently an increased regional maritime security presence off the coasts of Guyana and Suriname which is occurring in international waters in the Western Atlantic.
“This is a multinational operation involving maritime assets from the US, France, Great Britain and the Netherlands. It will continue through the end of November,” the release said.
