Prayers were said for stricken PNCR-1G Parliamentarian, Winston Murray as the National Assembly sat for the first time since he collapsed, exactly a week ago yesterday.
At the conclusion of yesterday’s sitting, Leader of the Government’s business, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds expressed on the PPP/C’s and his behalf, their concern on the well-being of Murray. He said that they pray for a full and speedy recovery. The Prime Minister reminisced on his last engagement in the National Assembly last week Thursday.
At the beginning of the session, the Assembly was led in prayer for Murray by PPP Parliamentarian, Reverend Kwame Gilbert. And Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), PNCR’s Volda Lawrence as she moved to speak on the motion to adopt the report of the PAC on the public accounts of Guyana, noted that Murray’s chair was empty. Describing him as a “small giant” she recalled that he was a former chairman of the PAC and reminisced that just last week Thursday, he sat in the House. AFC Parliamentarian, David Patterson also expressed his party’s concern about Murray.
Murray, 69, collapsed while standing in a line at McDoom, East Bank Demerara, on the evening of November 11. Up to yesterday, he remained hooked up to a respirator in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the GPHC.
