An auto mechanic accused by the police of obtaining a stolen motorcycle was yesterday admitted to bail in the sum of $300,000 after appearing before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation is that between November 29 and 30 at Georgetown, Frank Ross, 25, obtained a motorcycle, CE 427, from Malcolm Mentore. It is alleged that Ross, of 92 Barr Street, Kitty, knew that the bike was stolen from the Ministry of Public Works. Ross pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Attorney Mohamed Zafar, who represented Ross, told the court that his client was innocent of the charge levelled against him.
In making a bail application, Zafar said that Ross posed no risk of flight and had a fixed address. He also stressed that the offence is a bailable one.
The prosecution had no objection to the bail application Ross was later ordered to return to court on December 20.
