Labour Minister Manzoor Nadir today warned that a strike by power workers in Georgetown and Linden contravened the Essential Services (Amendment) Act and that stern action will be taken.
The strike was called yesterday by the union, NAACIE, over wahge talks. In a statement this afternoon Nadir said that he is moving to condignly deal with the strikers. He warned that the workers who violated the act “open themselves to being terminated and losing hard earned benefits.”
