For the third year in succession Camex Restaurant Inc. through its Church’s Chicken restaurant, has partnered with the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation for the annual Kashif and Shanghai football tournament.
Church’s Director of Training Dawn Braithwaite on Monday presented a cheque for an undisclosed sum to Co-Director of the organisation Kashif Muhammad.
“Let me say congrats to Kashif and Shanghai on this their 21st year for their tournament. We have always been supportive of them and we will continue to be supportive, as we see the need to assist with the improvement of football in Guyana.”
Muhammad in response thanked the company.
“Let me thank Church’s for once again being on board with us, to which we are thankful, as apart from the sponsorship, they service patrons at the game with their meals.
“Our preparations for this year’s tournament has been going great; we met with both the Ministers of Home Affairs and Sports Clement Rohee and Dr. Frank Anthony to discuss various matters that we have seen coming out of last year’s tournament, including security and sometime next week, we will be meeting with President Bharat Jagdeo.”
Muhammad also disclosed that the organisation was engaging the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) in talks to have the country’s top players on show for the exhibition matchup between the Golden Jaguars and Aletico Roraima out of Boa Vista, Brazil.
He also said the organisation will be acknowledging football stalwarts Collie `Hitman’ Hercules and Charles ‘Lily’ Pollard whom he said, had made immeasurable contributions to Guyana’s football.
“They have both been competing in our tournament from day one, while they were also the first batch of players to leave these shores and compete in the professional leagues in Trinidad and Tobago,” he said.
