No new date has been set for the final of the fourth annual Namilco Football Festival.
Marlan Cole, president of Fruta Conquerors Football Club, the organizers of the tournament, told Stabroek Sport the organizers will choose a date when the final and third place showdown can be played.
The date, Cole added, will be dependent on the weather.
Cole said it was unfortunate that the weather dampened what was expected to be a terrific night of football where a new Namilco Football Champion would have been crowned.
Last Sunday night Alpha `The Hammer` United was billed to challenge the rejuvenated Santos team in the final for the Namilco Football Festival Trophy and the top prize of $500,000 but heavy rainfall prevented the match from being contested.
The losing finalist will receive $200,000.
Camptown, who were the defending champions, will face Victoria Kings in the third place showdown for the $100,000 cash prize while fourth placed team will receive $50,000.
