In the foyer of its Corporate Office in High and Young streets, Kingston, Sean Noel the Manager of Administration told the representatives of the various organisations that the bank was playing its part in recognising the work of the organisations.
Uncle Eddie’s Home, the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana, the David Rose School for Handicapped Children, the Dharm Shala-Benevolent Home for all Races, the Guyana Red Cross, The Periwinkle Club, the Guyana Society for the Blind and the Guyana Relief Council each received $75,000 from the bank.
Noel added that the bank is donating the monies since the organisations “are able to get deeper to the issues that affect the people they cover”.
Cecil Morris of the Guyana Society for the Blind speaking on behalf of the recipients said that they were grateful for the donation. After the presentation of cheques, June Herod a teacher of the David Rose School for Handicapped Children said that the donation will be used to purchase much needed material to make visual aids for teaching.
And Dorothy Fraser of the Guyana Red Cross Society said that she was very grateful for the donation. She pointed out that it will help with end-of-year expenses.
