In the opening set, Singh sent down several aces and rushed to a 5 – 2 lead before veteran player Barckoy, came within a game at 4-5.
Singh, however was not to be denied and put away the set with a big service game.
Singh won the second set 6 – 3.
In the men’s singles semi-finals, Jeremy Miller advanced to the final after defeating Leyland Leacock 4 – 6, 6 – 6 (7 – 4), 6 – 4. Miller will now face number one seed, Philip Squires, on a date yet to be determined.
Public Relations Officer of the GLTA, Sandeep Chand, said that matches will pick up where they were left off once the weather permits.
Five final matches are scheduled to be completed including the women’s singles final, to be contested between Carol Humphrey and Krystal Sukra, and the men’s doubles to be contested by Philip Squires and Godfrey Lowden against Ezra Sue-Ho and Andy Gouveia.
