The New GPC Inc pledged their third year of support to the annual Kashif and Shanghai Tournament with a donation of $2 million in the company’s boardroom yesterday.
In handing over the cheque to Co-Director of the organization Kashif Muhammed, Managing Director of the New GPC Trevor Bassoo made brief remarks.
He said “we have always contributed to sports and football in general since we believe that sports is an important aspect of our lives to keep us active and healthy.”
“Apart from keeping us healthy and active, we know sports keeps us occupied, especially in this day and age young people need to be occupied to keep out of trouble,” Bassoo added.
He also commended the organization for their initiative and continued dedication to the tournament.
Meanwhile Muhammed thanked the company for their continued support. He noted that “this is the third year they have come onboard with the tournament and have come this generous. I trust that it is because they have seen our growth and development over the years.”
Earlier in the day, owner of guymine.com, Whiddon Sibdhanny, a website dedicated to highlighting the bauxite mining town of Linden, maintained his commitment of support to the premier football tournament.
Sibdhanny who resides in the United States handed over a letter of commitment to Andrew Major, son of Co-Director of the K&S organization, Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major informing them that his contribution will be in the form of a number of balls, among other items needed for the tourney.
It stated, “I am always elated to give any support towards the staging of this mega event. These guys have been honestly working towards the development of the game in Guyana and they have succeeded in taking it to another level. Guymine.com is once again happy to be a part and we wish the tournament every success.”
